March 27th 2020 – We donated HEB grocery gift cards to East African and Middle Eastern families through Nancy Barton, a parent Support specialist of Murchison Middle School. These were students of Austin Schools and going through tough times.

April 10th, 2020 – We made a donation $50 to The Missy Project

April 13th, 2020 – We made a donation of $100 to Himalayan Health Care, Inc towards health, education and income generation for the Nepali people living in remote mountain villages.

“Please help Himalayan HealthCare save lives and serve many in need during the deadly second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Nepal. Tens of thousand of people are infected and hundreds dying everyday because of new variant/s which are more transmissible and potentially more virulent. The sad situation in neighboring India is now upon us as we share an open porous border.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, we have provided PPE, thermal guns, etc., to rural communities in Dhading District. We have helped train and test (PCR) village health providers so that they are safer and able to serve better. Our hospital in the town of Ilam was designated as the quarantine center for the region for several months.
We have ordered oxygen concentrator machines for Covid isolation camps or villages so that patients with breathlessness can begin to fight the virus early and hopefully not be hospitalized. We will also provide packages of medicines, PPE, thermal guns, pulse oxymeter, hand sanitizer, etc., where we find the need.

Here’s why The Refuge Ranch is needed:

• Child sex trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world.

• In the U.S. there was an 846% increase in reported child sex trafficking cases from 2010 to 2015.

• There are currently 79,000 young adults and minors who have been sex trafficked in Texas.

• Texas has the second most reported number of child sex trafficking cases in the U.S.

• There are less than 600 beds available nationwide for child sex trafficking survivors, but we have over 13,000 animal shelters.

• Prior to the opening of The Refuge Ranch, Texas only had 24 beds available for child survivors’ long term recovery from trauma.

We went personally and purchased four HEB gift cards.  Murchison Middle School parent support specialist Nancy Barton came and picked up the gift cards and hand delivered them to 78728 and 78731 zip codes to families in Austin, TX who could not afford groceries during this very difficult pandemic job loss  family circumstances.  The gift cards were given in person to a family from East Africa with teenagers and several month old baby and to another family of five from the Middle East both students of AISD schools.
Murchison Middle School students, parents and staff, has helped support us tremendously during the 2015 Nepal earthquake Relief by providing us with 4 suitcases full of relief supplies that we were personally able to hand deliver to rural Dhading hills schools and Kathmandu schools.  This is a time we in turn decided to help the student families who are hurting due to this pandemic.
Thank you Nancy Barton for personally coming and collecting and delivering to their homes and front doors.

In honor of our neighbors father who recently passed away and to his cause.
The  B.I.S.H. Foundation is dedicated to generating and providing resources necessary for organization who conduct research needed in finding a cure for, preventing, eliminating and the treatment of cancer.  Our mission also encompasses assisting cancer patients in need, and helping educate the community about cancer.

The Missy Project is registered as a non-profit 501 C (3) organization, established in 1999 on what would have been Missy Magel’s 13^th birthday.  She died earlier that year while at summer camp from a brain aneurysm.  In researching the disease that claimed my daughter’s life, I learned it is far more prevalent among children than believed, and the symptoms are often misdiagnosed as a migraine headache.  In response to this health crisis, The Missy Project is funding 3 Research Programs to advance diagnosis of BAD.

JeevanKala Nepal is a non-profit sharing company created and managed by Himalayan HealthCare (HHC), a 501c3 U.S. and local NGO, since 1992.  All net proceeds from the handicraft sales are used to directly support the artisans and their families by providing access to income, education, and healthcare as well as creating awareness to protect our environment.

Supporting JEEVANKALA 
Between January and March 2019, our member Aruna traveled to Nepal and met with Himalayan Health Care Co-founders Anil Parajuli and Soni Parajuli several times.
“I got a chance to see first-hand the crafts, how they give back, and I thought we at ArunasNepalRelief should support them from the US.

Their efforts in helping communities from remote and isolated villages of Nepal by helping provide clean drinking water, safe learning environments, income generation, and empowerment for women, is remarkable!

I saw that the products are made by village women artisans, all from recycled tires, metal, cloth, and more, which are sanitized and made into crafts.”

ArunasNepalRelief will help JeevanKala and the women artisans with sale of products, web, graphics, and marketing help.  We are happy to lend a hand!

About JeevanKala

Jeevankala involves 300 women artisans from remote and isolated northern Dhading villages of Tipling, Sertung, and Lapa, who have been devastated and displaced by the 2015 earthquake.  It takes two to three days to reach these villages on foot. HHC carries out  15 projects in health care, education and income generation in these villages. JeevanKala helps supplement the meager farming income of the artisans. The business uses a third of the funds in production including fair wages, a third in sales & promotion abroad, and a third in village development projects in the artisans’ villages, such as:

• Training of young village women to become teachers, midwives, nurses, agro-techs and vet-techs to serve their communities
• Stipend for 50 school village children
• Renovate village schools and furniture
• Provide farmers with seeds, seedlings and technical support
• Equip rural hospitals with medical equipment and furniture
  

JeevanKala, a fairtrade member, has helped hundreds of families to earn living wages.  All net proceeds from the sale of JeevanKala goods go toward funding the artisans, their families, and their communities.

Each year, Himalayan HealthCare brings doctors, dentists, nurses, social workers, teachers, and other volunteers–including friends and family members–through the Himalayas to the remote mountain villages of the Ruby Valley in rural Nepal. Volunteers work with our staff and the local communities to provide training to the local medical providers, and medical care to the villagers who need it the most.
