customs…everything worked out smoothly without a hitch and was able to bring all 6 suitcases checked in as personal items, safely.  Very thankful to the one above, looking out for us!

So good to see mom and hug her, she was so excited to hug Nikhil and me after 11 long years.  Immediately, we had her authentic homemade Nepali vegetarian food.  We camp out in her small apartment, we sleep on the floor comfortably and we take baths in buckets of water.  Mom cooks us fresh meals everyday, boils and filters the water.  To us, this is a 5 star hotel and we are very grateful that we are in such good hands. My mother has suffered severe psychological trauma like many others who survived the massive earthquakes, yet she is as tough as nails and we are the two people on her mind.

Despite what my mom has endured, she cooks fresh, boils and filters water and does all to keep us safe and healthy!

She is our safety net and she comforts us as she tells us “you have to take good care of yourselves and stay healthy and be very safe, I am worried about where you go and who you go with!”.

Last night a few aftershocks maybe 4 but we did not feel at all since were are so jet-lagged, but mom and neighbors felt it. This morning at 6:50am 5.2m reported aftershock, again, we felt nothing but mom and neighbors and friends felt it.  Its like a daily ritual, count the seconds how long the tremor lasts and then see if its long – get out fast, if its short just wait it out.

Was just talking to my husband just the other day in TX, if a 5.2 shock hit Austin we would have chaos and red alert. and here its almost a daily life style that Nepali people have found a way to live through and try to embrace best way they can.  We are in good hands and can’t wait to start our relief work.

Will update with photos soon enough!
